SINGLES

This is the time to instil the importance of buying a house before prices go out of reach. By now the savings and budgeting habit should be implanted so you need to force into their brain a sense of the way house prices have risen. Visit a library and look up the newspapers at five yearly intervals for the last 20 years. Find large advertisements showing pictures of houses with the prices underneath, and have photo-copies made of them for the bedroom walls.

As an example, looking at the current price of the average Sydney house now and comparing it to the price you could have bought it at ($8 500 in 1960 or even $64 500 in 1980) should be enough to motivate even the most lethargic to action.
